Artesian Wells

Prattville is also known as the "Fountain City," because of numerous artesian wells that once flowed throughout town. The number of wells has diminished over time, but there remain several that are easy to find. Four that are found in the Downtown area include one in the backyard of the Prattaugan Museum where you can drink with a dipper; another is on Doster Road with a shelter that has been constructed over it inviting visitors to "sit a spell" while enjoying the cool clear water; a third well is in Heritage Park and the fourth is in the parking lot of First Baptist Church.
